Re: 1) CF Focus 2) Ciderpress

( from memory - may miss a step )

I don't recall the adapter vendor, but it was mentioned in a post in
this UG a month or so ago. It was "nothing special" just one seller
from ebay - it came from Taiwan (think). I believe MJM mentioned that
the product looked to be of good quality. Anyway, I'll look around if
you want better info.

Nothing special about the CF cards either: one was a Sandisk 8 meg,
another was a 128 meg Sandisk with WIFI (couldn't get the WIFI part to
work).

I made a backup of the Focus HD by dragging and dropping folders onto
a spare partition on the IIgs.

I took out the hard drive, put on the IDE_CF adapter, put in the flash
card and stuck this (Focus+adapt+CF) into slot 5? of a IIgs. I changed
the slot assignment to "Your Card". Then used FOCUSFORMAT on the
correct device (the CF in slot 5? NOT the HD in slot 7). This formated
the card and created 4 partitions which I accepted. Reboot. The IIgs
wanted to initialize each partition, so I let it do that. At this
point these CF partitions appear the same as HD partitions to the
user.

I copied the backup set to the 1st partition on the CF. For Appleworks
I changed the name of the first CF partition to "Focus.1" so macros
and directories don't need to be changed.

I took the Focus_CF drive back to the slot 7 of //e and it booted.
Seems ok but I have one bad block in 4,2 that Mr. Fixit marked out. I
used a Prosel utility to more Prosel.system first so it boots to the
Prosel Menu.

Are you the person who had problems a month or so ago? If so, what are
the symptoms you are seeing?

Meanwhile: does your A2 and Focus work now, i.e. the card itself is
OK? Does the CF format in another device like a card reader in a PC?
I think you need to use Focusformat (could be wrong). It might be tied
to the card firmware.
