There's no better reason than that.

Ok. Keep reading. The .nib format has some serious shortcomings, but
it does help in a couple types of situations.

If you go that route (USB-Serial adapter) you will be able to use
MacADT under Classic, or ADTPro under OSX to do the direct floppy-to-
image transfers.

I haven't heard of it, so I can't help there.
