My recollections from the day are that FST is smoke and mirrors in GS/
OS and that is why nothing was published by Apple. I recall that for
every new FST that Apple released the OS was changed. There aren't any
"real" hooks to allow developers to write their own FST's.
ISTR there was some discussion on GEnie back in the early days of
6.0.1 about disassembling the ProDOS FST to use as a model. I don't
remember if that went anywhere as the smoke and mirrors argument came
up regarding the OS and I lost interest.
