I found a Mac 128, in excellent condition, for $4 at my neighbour
thrift shop (it must have just been donated moments before I walked
in, seeing as it was by the front entrance and still sitting in boxes).
That's about all it was worth to me personally.
Got the original case, keyboard and a later model beige Apple
800K external drive. A few weeks later I went back and found
the missing keyboard cable and the original System disk floppies,
and in my parts box an original Mac 128 mouse I picked up years
before and forgot about! I was a bit disappointed however to find
out the previous owner installed a Mac 512e motherboard (with
1 MB installed) along with a newer double-sided 800K floppy drive.
My original 1978 Apple II (serial #11985) was also unfortunately
upgraded during its lifetime to a "II Plus" but at least it was just
the ROMs, which I've replaced all but one so far. One of these
days I'll hopefully find the parts to restore the Mac 128 and my
Apple II back to their original state.
