It's a small application which probes your Apple IIgs and displays
a report of your system hardware and software configuration. You
can even save the report to disk as a plain text (ASCII) file. As a
matter of fact, below is a report from my actual hardware IIgs to
give an idea...
It details:
- ROM, System Software and OS version
- Detected CPU speed and external cache size
- Memory useage/availability specifics
- ALL Desk Accessories, Control Panels, INITs, Finder Extensions
- ALL System Toolsets
- ALL online storage devices (mass storage, floppy, RAM Disk, etc)
- Serial devices and printer drivers
The software was written by Bryan Pietrazakand published on
SoftDisk G-S issue #48. I have version 1.3; was there was a newer
version written? Definitely wasn't freeware or shareware, and I'm not
sure if it could be considered "abandonware" since Syndicomm still
sells SoftDisk G-S (although only as a complete set on CD-ROM,
don't think individual floppy disks can be bought).
Here's an Analyst report on my flagship IIgs....
(yep, my Zip GS was finally repaired but running at a slower speed;
still need to find a new ROM 3 board to get it running stable at even
the slower speed though). :)
