Re: Beagle Bros software - IO Silver

It has been a few years since I've spoke/emailed Brad, but as I
recall, he was working at Bnetsoftware.com (In fact, I think it was
*his* company). I'm not going to repost any contact info, but if you
Google that domain and Brad's name, you'll get a phone number in
Torrance for the company. If you do speak with him, tell him Warren
says "Hi."

(As an aside, Brad was my mentor at Beagle Bros, and his lessons in
customer service and tech support stay with me to this day. He also
introduced me to Riccola cough drops at least a decade before they
were widely available in the US. Nice guy all around.)

He also had the Response-o-Matic website for many years, which was a
free way to get a web page form emailed somewhere without using any of
your own CGI programming, which was a popular service early in the
web's history.

Anyway, in response to the first question: the only other game Beagle
released was "The Beagle Bag," which was a collection of games written
in BASIC. The idea was that you could play the game, and then LIST it
out and see how it worked, and then use the same ideas in any game you
decided to write yourself.

I.O. Silver was written in assembly, but as I recall, the source code
was available for purchase. The number "$5000" comes to mind, but A) I
have no idea if anyone ever took us up on the offer, and B) I don't
even remember if that dollar value is correct. If someone put a gun to
my head, I could probably find the paperwork and find out.

Here's hoping it goes free. Even if it didn't, I'm sure I have an
original floppy here somewhere...
