I'd have to say it's not a screw-up on the grounds that very few
printers sold under the LaserWriter name were not accessed via
AppleTalk. They don't explicitly offer an AppleTalk option because it's
implicit in the fact that it's a LW. Even if they were directly
connected to a single machine, the communication protocol was AppleTalk
rather than a raw data stream.
