The corruption actually turned out to be a combination of a bad ground, and
bad transfers in the first place. Now the ground is fixed it's working
better. Something still seems very wrong though.

Copying files in GS/OS is even worse than I would have expected. It only
does a very tiny amount of data before it asks for a disk change. I realise
1.25mb isn't gigantic (yes I upgraded to that today), but nearly half
should be free when doing a transfer. It seems like it's inly getting 1 or
2 k per read.
Any ideas? It's the same in both system 4 and 5.
