Hi,
I have recently struck a problem in transferring disks from my IIgs
onto my WinXP box. When I try and send a disk image from my A2, it
reads successfully into the buffer and then sits there forever more
after sending the first block over the serial link.
I have created my own null modem cable and at first I suspected that I
had wired it incorrectly, so I went back to the A2 FAQ and using my
trusty multimeter, checked all of the pins and everything checked out
as per the FAQ. I thought it strange because I can transfer images in
the other direction (WinXP-->IIgs) with no problems.
I started playing around with the older ADT versions on the A2 side,
but that didn't help. However, when I went back to using the old ADT
host for windows (I think it was ADT_2005) I was able to transfer
disks successfully from the IIgs to WinXP. So it would seem that my
problem lies on the Windows side (surprise surprise!). ;-)
I'm guessing one of the following might be the problem:
* I have a problem with the rxtx library - which I replaced from the
latest ADTPro release (with no success)
* a Java/WinXP security setting that is disallowing serial transfers
to my WinXP machine
* ADTpro has additional requirements for the cable (outside what is
listed in the A2 FAQ) that I haven't wired correctly (maybe for
hardware handshaking? but I'm pretty sure this should work anyhow)
* something else I can't think of?
Has anyone else had issues using ADTPro to transfer images from their
A2 to WinXP?
Just to reiterate - *I have no problems transferring TO my IIgs, just
FROM it*.
Also, I am using the IIgs serial port (not a SSC card) and at 115,200.
As an aside, I have successfully transferred images from my IIgs to
WinXP when I was using a SCC card (in fact I transferred a good
portion of my disk collection this way in November last year). But I
gave one of my SSC cards (the one that had been in the IIgs) to a mate
so he could transfer images onto his IIgs (donated by RedSkull) -
hence the reason I'm now wanting to use the IIgs serial port.
Sorry for the ramble, but any help would be well received.... :-)
cheers,
-p
