Hey Michael. If there's data on fractional tracks, it will show up nicely, as will spiral tracking. Of course, non-standard formatting also shows up.Spiral tracking? What's that?
Writing fractional-length tracks on adjacent fractional tracks, so that the actual recorded information describes a stepped spiral on the disk surface. When such disks boot, the head makes a relatively smooth movement across the tracks.
I never had much luck with the hi-res disk scanning. Am I mssing something?
It's a little like a microscope--you have to observe several normal and abnormal specimens to learn to interpret the scan. -michael NadaNet networking for Apple II computers! Home page: http://members.aol.com/MJMahon/ "The wastebasket is our most important design tool--and it's seriously underused."
