It's libsvga1, not vesa which looks to be some proprietary and
antiquated (graphics standards?) body looking for cash for their
proprietary documents.

apple2 can use libsvga1.  libsvga1 is a library for accessing SVGA
directly which will break unless you have this specific type of
graphics hardware.  And, it sounds like apple2 is a console program.
With the video hardware access, the graphics might work, but it would
be full screen, no windowing.

xapple2 and apple2 also use x86 assembler which ties the
implementation to a specific type of hardware.
