The Apple II motherboard already has grid co-ordinates. A-K from front
to back along left edge and 1-14 from left to right along front edge.

I just took some pictures of a Rev 0 Apple II motherboard and will
post the best on my web site. The Rev 0 has nothing to indicate the
revision (I even took a look under the 6502). It has green slots and a
black GAME I/O socket. Serial number 4705 written on motherboard and
A2S1-4597 on base plate.

It is surprisingly common for the *first* board made by a new company
not to have a revision number--hope springs eternal.  ;-)
