I would say no. The CPUs are cheap now days. But on the other hand
I have seen somethings solder on the bottom of a few IIgs mother
boards. But I do not think they were for the smart port. That was a
cap and transistor.
I do not know how much you know about the IIgs. But I take it you
have correctly plugged the 3.5 in first, then the 5.25s. That you have
the control pannel set to scan all slots and not set to slot 6. That
slot 5 is set to standards or defalt with a check by it?
One way to get the control pannel is to hold down the <option> key
upon bootting.
