Both the AVR and the PROM need to be updated. The updated driver source in
on my
web site. The updated AVR code is not there yet in the hope of adding
support for
a second volume.
If you have a device to program 27C256, chances are it also supports AVR.
If you like to tinker a circuit to program AVRs is rather simple. For
example

If you are interested in AVRs the development software is free from Atmel's
site
and ISP programmer sells for $24 or so.
The $49 "AVR Dragon" that in addition to programming gives you full speed
(ICE-like) source level debugging is pretty incredible.
Finaly if someone just wants an update, mail me the Atmega chip and I'll do
the
update.
