Re: Stylewriter original

Thanks to all for the comments.

Water, uh. I will give that a try. I did have the thought that since
I won't be using the Apple printer port, that slot 1 is the place to
put the parallel card. Maybe this weekend I will open it up.

WD-40 on the ribbons for an image writer. That is something new. I
have some ribbons NIB. Of course, 15 years in the box is still old and
dry. I put one of the new ones in and printed a few pages. A few
weeks later, nothing. WD-40, like duct tape, an endless list of uses.

I tried a StyleWriter II on the IIGS but I don't have drivers. The
printer works fine on a CC. It did not work on the IIGS with the
StyleWriter picked as the printer.

This whole toner, cartridge business is a racket. I have an HP
PhotoSmart that I just did a refill on some cartridges. We'll see how
they work.

I had an HP 550C back in the day that cost $600. The black cartridges
were easy to fill. I had this bottle of ink that was nearly a quart.
I used half of it with one cartridge before the thing just wouldn't
print anymore. And yes, some plastic part finally broke and that was
the end of the printer as well.

Between imaging drums and toner, laser printers, color ones especially,
are still quite expensive.

I bought 250 HP 1220 printers for my school system several years ago.
I bought 500 toner cartridges in one lot. Got them cheap, $65. X
model, not A. The A does about 2500, the X 4000. Why they even make
the A is stupidity. Some of them came from a bad lot. It took me a
year to get HP to exchange about 200 of them. At least HP puts return
labels in all their new boxes.

Thanks,
Robert
