This reminds me of a moment of epiphany regarding audio
reproduction:

The voice on the record said:  "Just relax and listen.  If
there are scratches on the record, don't let them bother you--
just imagine that you are listening in a room with a fireplace
that pops and hisses--and relax and listen."

...and I was immediately enlightened!


On some modern recordings, there are vinyl-like (or even 78 rpm record
like) svratching sounds added intentionally, at some places in the
recording.

That will be an interesting "artistic effect" until everyone who
knows what it is is gone--like dust and scratches added to video.

(BTW, the above sentence is one of the few in which "is is" is
not an error.  I'm getting sick of "The problem is is that...".)
