I totally agree with you. There's a big momentum to improve the
debugger beyond the reasonable. But there's basically no momentum to
improve the core - which really needs it !

I when I quit AppleWin development the 2K ROM switching (together with
a partial redesign to clean up the code base) was already implemented
but had a bug I couldn't find. I handed the code over to the new
maintainer together with a lengthy description of the design...
