So, I ordered a new ARM7 board with 64K RAM and pile of FLASH. Not enough RAM
for a full Apple IIe + emulation code, but plenty for testing portions. I
also ordered an ARM7 board with CPLD which might be a good way to interface
to the Apple II bus. It comes with software for programming the CPLD (VHDL?)
which will be new. I got out of professional designing about the time GALS
got cheap.
I'm looking at a full blown ARM9 board with 8 Meg of RAM and 32M of FLASH but
I don't feel like spending $200 right now, especially for something that
would be a fraction of that if it didn't have all the prototyping doodads and
sockety things for the entire variety store of interfaces.
