I don't ordinarily respond to this kind of post, but I wish to render an 
opinion about your post here.

You write as though you have no control over your life or choices. The 
rest of it about finances, marriage, school, job, or what not isn't the 
problem, the problem appears to be your perceived lack of control.
In my opinion, the best solution to this problem is to first examine all 
of your experiences in life that eventually led you to have this 
perspective. Not an easy thing to do by yourself, I think both you and 
your wife would benefit from the help of a counselor / therapist.
From personal experience, I have found that the only way out of a 
situation like that is to do _whatever is necessary_ to get yourself 
mentally and emotionally healthy. Then eventually with enough work you 
begin to see that you have full control over everything that happens in 
your life and the whole world makes a lot more sense. You might try 
seeing the film "What the Bleep Do We Know?!" to help see what I am 
talking about.
