Re: I need help
I live in Canada. At the moment, I don't qualify for income assistance
because I just started working (at a minimum wage retail job that I
don't like.) I've roughly estimated that my real wage will be under
CDN$5/hour taking into account travel time and travel costs ($59.90 for
a 12 hour day.) At the moment, I have about $41 reserved for the
"travel to job" expenses. A couple of months ago, I had just enough
money to secure the temporary place I am living in. It started snowing
today, and I am glad to be indoors.
The local food bank generously provides all of the food that I am
eating. I could start selling stuff to buy better food. The food bank
food is a lot of starch and supposedly only enough food for 3-4 days
out of the week (I usually skip dinner anyways.) In the meantime, I am
waiting for my first paycheck to arrive. Unlike the original poster, I
am a family of one, and I only need to pay for the expense of this warm
shelter for the winter.

I made good money in the early eighties programming the Apple II.

There is an American who has been sitting in one of our jails for over
two years (for stealing a pair of bolt cutters he was going to use to
break locks on dumpsters to get food) and he receives much better food
in jail. But, I don't envy him, the prison conditions sound terrible,
and he has been put in isolation. If they send him back to the USA, he
risks death because of actions he claims to have been falsely accused
of.
In Canada, I've heard of guys purposely committing a crime that will
put them "inside" for the winter.
