Hello,
now that just I got my NTSC pre-Platinum Apple //e mainboard from Bill
Garber, maybe somebody around here could answer a few question about the
connectors?
1.) Where do you connect the internal speaker? J18 in the front right
corner or J19 in the middle of the right edge? Or somewhere else
entirely? And what's the other one for?
2.) The keyboard socket wiring for this thing is the same as for the
U.S. layout of the PAL model I hope?
3.) I've heard that the keyboard ROM contains, in addition to the
standard layout, a second "Dvorak" style layout which you can activate
by attaching a switch in the right place. I'd like to know where you
connect this switch, since I want to plug in my English/German keyboard
ROM instead of the English/Dvorak one and then attach the switch that's
already built into my PAL //e case for this purpose. I know that I'll
need an adapter for the Video ROM.
4.) Slightly unrelated: what does the marking 5XB on an electrolytic
capacitor mean? I assume it stands for some specific voltage and
capacitance, but which? Just in case any of them are dead.
Many thanks in advance,
