Hi,

Given the the IIc has only a serial port for printers, can anyone tell me what type of serial to parallel adapter would allow me to connect a generic parallel printer (such as an Epson)?

Does any generic serial to parallel adapter work for this purpose without special software?

I don't know if these are easily available any more, but simple adapters like this do exist. I've got one for my Sinclair QL computer (which only has serial ports), as far as the computer's concerned it's just like connecting a serial printer.

I was going to post, and then realize I don't have a clue whether they
are still being manufactured.

The most likely place to find serial-to-parallel converters these
days is in a bin of stuff at a surplus outlet.

Or, maybe someone here has one they'd be willing to part with,
and there's always eBay.

This is the kind of item that is worth less than the postage
to ship it.

Nope.. Brand new ( but expensive ) is still possible. But for that price, id make my own.

Of course they are still made, but the price tells you that they
are now a "specialty" item. Best to get an old one for peanuts
(and probably more compatible!).
