The current software is set for 255 images but AFAIK there is no hard limit.
Let me explain once again how it works.
Any number of NIB images 455 blocks each are stored on the memory card.
On the Apple side a program asks which image to use. It passes the result
to the AVR on the card to use this offset from the beginning of the card.
When somebody asks nicely for more images, I'll add one more byte to the
protocol.
65K images will probably be enough.

"It's a simple matter of software". The hardware allows you to write data
to the card. Writing an Apple based program to manipulate images is not
my greatest strength. That's why the project is open source.
