FWIW I think it's a brilliant idea. There's also a great deal of
overlap between what you've achieved here, and a parallel thread in
this group talking about preserving disk images in pristine copy
protected form.

Yes, I'm reading that thread. However my understanding is that the idea is
to preserve perfect images of protected disks for the emulators rather than
real Apples.

Actually, it does address the real Apple side of things, in two ways.

First, it captures information that should allow the protected disk
to be run from other hardware simulating the Disk ][, like a version
of your card with quarter-tracking and rotation angle simulation.

Second, it provides all the bits (but not the "relevance map") that
would allow re-creation of physical copies of the protected disk.

If it gets to the point of implementation, I'd argue for defining an
appendage to the image that provides information to instruct a "writing"
program to re-create the physical disk, providing it is known.

I have designed my board mainly for fun and my own use. In particular to
have
quick access to a lot of CP/M images. I'm not sure other solutions support
the Apple CP/M card. And of course the games that are not "normalized".
Not that I remember when I played a game last time :))

Its adaptability to non-standard operating systems is quite interesting!
