Bill, your 3.5" floppy options with a controller card are as follows:
- Unidisk Controller + Unidisk Drive (White, not Platinum) = 800k(GCR)
- Laser UDC^ (Universal Drive Controller) + Apple Platinum Drive =
800k(GCR)
- Apple 3.5" Drive Controller + Apple Platinum Drives = 800k(GCR),
1.44M(w/ Superdrive)
- BlueDisk^^ + PC Drive = 720k, 800k(MFM), 1.44M, 1.6M, 2.88M
- SCSI Controller + Floptical Drive = 1.44M, 21M (and possibly others)
- Focus Drive, MicroDrive, Microdrive Turbo + LS120 Superdisk = 1.44M,
120M (untested or unreported, they theoretically work) supposedly
Joicham wrote a driver for the microdrives.
^ - Laser UDC Supports both Apple 140k 5.25" drives AND 800k 3.5"
drives.
^^ - BlueDisk Suports PC 160k, 320k, and 1.2M 5.25" drives as well.
The BlueDisk and the MicroDrive are availible through Henry.
All others available through very good fortune and sometimes eBay.
