I never ever "swore never to buy a Mac".
You may not have, but I know lots of people who did. Some are still around.
I'm not saying anything bad about those who did. If someone swore to never
buy a Mac, and then eventually did, fine. Things change. But for those who
did swear to never buy a Mac, and then did at a later point in time, to
then
treat me like some sort of lower life form because I never did become a Mac
convert is pure hypocracy.
Of course it is .... but hypocricy is a very common property among religious
zealots --- including those who have a particular computer as their
religion...
Like a lot of the Windows users I see online. Doesn't seem to apply as
much to Linux users though.
Curious. I don't frequent many forums where the PC vs. Mac debate
would rage, but in my general experience, I've found that Mac users
identify more emotionally with their machines, while PC users are
much more pragmatic. As a result, PC users tend to dismiss attacks
with "Whatever...".
As a rule, the underdog mentality is required to get strong emotional
commitment--kind of a defensive thing. The top dog can't be bothered.
It kind of reminds me of the LA vs. San Francisco "rivalry", in which
SF folks emotionally defend their city as superior in countless ways
to the multi-dimensional "sprawl" of LA. But LA folks just say,
"Oh, Frisco has some great restaurants." ;-)
