Oh but of course.. what other kinds of information is there. ;)

http://www.apple2.org/TQB2.jpg

What I'm trying to accomplish is - that bottom view portal thing- I
want it to sort based on what data is entered above. So that if I have
an item and enter something in the title box, I'll get everything like
it in the portal below. Automagically or a button press- I also want
the portal to center on it, so I can see 'above' and 'below'.

So that if I put in "RAMWorks II" I'd see "RAMWorks" entries above it
and "RAMWorks III" entries below it. . Then clicking on one of those
lines in the portal can put that information into the view above- or if
I just continue typing in the view above- I can add a new entry, etc.
As the buttons depicted show.

My goal is to categorize a whole lot of stuff so I can see what I have,
and what I don't have, what I have too many of, etc- the database will
help because I can take a box, do it, label it, and put it away. If I
want something I know what box it's in. If I come across something else
I know where to look to get the other like item and compare, do I want
to keep this one, or that one, should this one go on eBay, become trade
material or just be offered up to whomever steps up to the plate first,
etc.. There's collection databases out there but none are setup for
this niche of a project.

The secondary result is it can become the database creator for
apple2.org since all the pictures on that site right now... suck. They
were done with a Quadra 840av in 1996. They blow badly by todays
standards.

Because it's a web database of sorts perhaps mysql is more suited, but
right now, mysql does not offer a nice front end. A web browser and
screwing with cache and refresh is not my idea of a nice front end.
This window layout is predictable. In the future the information could
be exported, as a parallel project too. FileMaker seems to be the ideal
method atleast from the way I'm looking at it right now.

..and I can see that I need a a sub category field in that thing, too.

The other thing I can't get it to do properly is if I click the small
image I want the larger window to display that image clicked on.
