ImageWriter II problems

Hi everyone..

I fired up a IW 2, I put in a new Nukote ribbon for the IW I/II and it kind 
of prints. I tired adjusting the head gap lever on the inside lower right. 
But it doesn't move the print head forward enough. If you push the silver 
carriage bar towards the black roller with your thumb it has a 1/4 in 
travel, is this normal ?

If I use 3 sheets of paper I get a printout that is only readable on the 
left side. The ribbon is good as I have plenty of ink on my fingers from it.

I pulled the printhead and cleaned the contacts and still no luck on getting 
readable printing on the entire page..

Any ideas ?
