I stopped using my Apple II as my main computer in 1992, and built my
own PC which I've done ever since.

I (briefly) used Windows (3.11 at the time) but migrated over to Linux
as my primary OS soon afterward, and have stayed there ever since.

Funnily, about the only sour note in my computing experience these days
is due to proprietary hardware drivers for various pieces of my machine
(video and wireless ethernet being the two biggest culprits).

If I had to choose today between an off-the-shelf PC running Windows XP
and a Mac, I'd have to pick the Mac, which is probably the first time
since the death of the Apple II that I've considered that option.
