We can clone it, probably, should we ever get our hands on one,
and it can be converted to CF/SD/MMC technology. Do you know if
that controller is IDE or SCSI? Or is it FM/MFM as are other
drives of that period?

IIRC, it's a SCSI drive inside.

As a way to connect a CF card, it's like reaching behind your head
to scratch the other ear.  There are much simpler ways to connect
a CF card to the bus internally (as in CFFA).
