38.

The first computer I *used* was either visiting my mother at work playing
Tic-Tac-Toe on the mainframe at her office in Minneapolis or the Apple II
at school playing the original Oregon Trail.

The first computer *we owned* was an Apple II+ that my Dad bought - I
remember the second disk was something like $500!

The first computer *I owned* was an Apple //e purchased from members of
the Super Pirates of MPLS. Or so the story goes! My first hard-drive
was a 5MB ProFile purchased from the guy who ran Dark Light BBS out of
MPLS. That computer took me through college! I remember dialing up to
do homework or play Conquest on the VAX during J-Term.

Unfortunately, I no longer have either of those computers. Why do we do
such dumb things? I loved that computer!! Plus all the disks and books
and magazines... gone. <Sigh.>

I am pleased that one of my son's first computers, however, is the Apple
IIGS we picked up from school -- and he's used it since just before he
turned 7. Start 'em young I say! :-)
