I haven't ever set up an AppleShare 3 server so the information I have
may be incomplete.

I know that you will need to update some Apple II support files on the
server using a disk which was supplied with IIgs System 6.0.1.

Using an AppleShare server to boot the IIgs is a lot slower than a hard
drive, because the AppleTalk (LocalTalk) network is nowhere near as fast
as a SCSI or IDE interface (even when SCSI/IDE is constrained by Apple
II performance limitations).

You should expect performance similar to booting the IIgs from a floppy
disk. The main benefit is a lot more storage space on your startup
volume, plus making it easier to exchange files with a Mac.
