If you're going to play one Ultima in your life, Ultima IV is it. I've 
lost count of the number of times it has appeared on lists of games that 
are not to be overlooked. As for hardware, the Apple ][ and 64 versions 
are almost identical although you'll need specific sound hardware like a 
Mockingbird to get the full experience on the Apple. The Amiga version 
has slightly improved graphics and you'll spend less time waiting on the 
disk along with the added benefit of not having to swap disks every few 
minutes (it gets old very quickly).

It isn't emulation and with the graphic and sound improvements installed, 
Ultima IV is ultimately (sorry, I couldn't resist) more enjoyable. You can 
download the game for free (legally) too and be playing in no time.

P.S. If you do go with UIV, make notes as you go along. Trust me. :)
