Do shut up, you patronising pillock. I know full well how to read the

I'll patronize you all I want to until you merit some respect, Limey.
Awww. The newbie's all upset.
I'll spell it out for you:
Bill's card costs $49 with RAM.
Bill's card is a compromise. It is for a limited market. Bill (and Vince
Briel, who ISTR was involved with the project) are fully aware of the
electronic issues, however, unlike you they are also aware of the market
demands and size. By releasing a card for under $50 that WORKS, they
undercut the vast number of aging, 15 year old plus cards on eBay.
The end users are happy with the cards. I use one. I am happy with it.
Would I like gold connectors? Sure. Would I pay more for them? Hell no;
my IIgs is a hobbyist machine, if I don't see the value in a component
for it, I won't buy it and the IIgs can do without.
(I'll pre-empt your cheapskate remark; take a look at my studio in the
link below, and the amount I've spent on getting hold of an
AlphaSyntauri this week. I understand that the concepts of relative
value might be hard for you to understand, so I will explain that yes, I
can afford $100 or $200 for a RAM card - but I can spend that money on
something else I will get more use from).
Now, aside from the fact that it is DAMNED RUDE to assume that
experienced electronics engineers that have proven their abilities by
actually building and marketing something (and again, I point you to
Vince's Replica 1) are unaware of these benefits, you're about two years
late to the party with your 'observations'.
Prove me wrong. Go price out a 4Mb card built to your specifications and
tell us what it would cost. Advertise said card and see how much
interest you get.
FWIW, I don't need the respect of an ignorant dumbass who descends to
racial slurs in an attempt to be insulting. I've been called a hell of a
lot worse ;)
