On a recent trip to the local surplus shop, I got a little spendy, and
picked up a few extra connectors. Once I got home, I thought of a
possible use for a couple of them; namely, a DB-25 male and a DB-9
male.
Apple 2 Oasis includes a disk server program, that connects to the ][
over a line stretching from the PC's parallel port to the ]['s game
port. Now, I have a //c, but I said to myself, 'self, if a regular
joystick can have both ][ game port (IC) and //c game port (DB-9)
connections on it, they must be only different because of the layout of
the connectors, right?' Pardon any possible ignorance; it's been quite
a long day.
So, my questions are this:
1. Can the two game ports be adapted from one to the other by a simple
pin-to-pin adapter, and if so, what would such an adapter look like?
2. Does anyone here have any experience in using the A2Oasis disk
server program with a //c? Does it work, does it not, so on? I figure
it should, as (as far as I know) a //c is just a repackaged //e, as far
as ProDOS thinks, right?
Any help would be appreciated.
