One other note, I would consider it unussual if the hand written
serial number of the motherboard matched that of the case serial number, though I expect they would be fairly close (within a few hundred), as mine was. Remember Apple also sold bare boards for adventurous folks who wanted to save money and find their own power supply, case and keyboard, as a friend of mine did.

The first Apple II computers obviously shipped with the Rev. 0
motherboard. I read that these were used until serial numbers reached
the 6000s range (--> can anyone confirm this?). There seem to be two
variants of this board though, one with the light green expansion
slots, the other with the later darker green expansion slots (e.g Phils
restoration project had these --> is this correct Phil ?). The boards
were as far as I have seen hand numbered in the top left corner and the
number seems to indicate the serial number of the board.
