Your objective 2, which now is reached by emulating the JVM on
various other platforms, could also have been reached by emulating
MSDOS or Windows on various other platforms: there are Windows
emulators for both the Mac and Linux. After all, a Java program is
just as "platform independent" as an MSDOS or Windows (or, for that
matter, an Apple II) program - it's just a matter of emulating one
platform (JVM, MSDOS/Windows, or Apple II) on another platform
(Windows, Mac, Linux). By choosing to implement your ADT in Java,
you are btw excluding MSDOS machines as target machines, since there
is no JVM for MSDOS.

Otoh, if you had implemented your ADT for MSDOS or Windows, the
MSDOS/Windows part could be a pain for those that don't already have
MSDOS/Windows (natively, or emulated) installed... :-)
