I've been looking for the same, myself, Paul. I too recall reading, back
in the early '90s, that the Apple II tech notes were written in Word
format and then translated to ASCII for reading on the Apple II. At the
time, I did not have a Mac to read this format, so I didn't save or try to
obtain these files. (I believe I did have a floppy disk with at least
some portion of these, but I haven't been able to find these again.)

I started looking for these recently in order to get the original diagram
images used in the notes, perhaps for use with the HTML version we now
have, rather than the ASCII art versions that they now use. I posted here
a while ago without success, but maybe if we keep trying, a new lead will
turn up.
