Re: DHR used?
Well, there was "Beagle Graphics" from Mark Simonson, which allowed
someone to use DHR graphics from AppleSoft. I don't seem to recall that
it would be fast enough for games, but it would still be usable for
some tasks.
There were several TimeOut modules that used DHR graphics, such as
TimeOut Paint (monochrome only - looks like MacPaint), TimeOut Page
Preview, TimeOut Graph, and Timeout SuperFonts and SideSpread used a
preview screen that was DHR. With SuperFonts, you could even inject a
DHR graphics file into an AppleWorks word processor file. Pretty neat
in 1988.
There's also MouseDesk, which is a GS-Finder-like program for 8-bit
Apple II's that uses a mouse (hence the name) and DHR. I wouldn't want
to use it for ALL my file management or program launching needs, but it
does have its uses.
