bad characters on printer

hello,
using MouseWrite on an Apple IIe with enhaced video rom, I can display those
french characters ("e" with accent) on the screen. With the switch under the
keyboard � and � are replaced by { and }.
but when printing (serial printer, Apple Imagewriter) I always get { and },
never the french accents! Any idea?
