It might reduce the contrast a bit, but the conventional wisdom is
that screen burn-in is a one-way street.
One interesting possibility is to simply reduce its distraction
potential, by, say, turning the CRT upside down in the monitor.
On the bright side, if anyone's looking to refurbish a IIc, I can
recommend six months in direct sunlight to bleach the case to a pristine
white ;-)
That's interesting, since UV seems to be a primary cause of yellowing...
