I finally had the time to put together a long serial cable (40' to 50') to
directly connect my IIGS to one of my Linux boxes in the basement.
Works really slick from ProTERM at 57600. Zmodem rocks! Up to this point,
I have been hauling a laptop over, connecting it, shipping files, and
twiddling my thumbs since _both_ computers are tied up. Now, I *still*
have one!! :-)
Anyway, I've been putzing with trying to get Marinetti setup. I think that
my issue is configuring the Linux end, to be honest. I've tried running
the PPP daemon, but that seems to get stuck at "Negotiating PPP options" or
some such message (does it take a looong time?).
I've also tried to script up SLIP (using slattach) but, according to the
log messages, it doesn't get past the login (actually, never sees the
'ogin:' prompt).
This is more to see what I gain with TCP/IP on the IIGS. Is it worth the
effort?
I think that whatever route I go, a printer is out of the question - right?
Thanks!
