eBay can be good if you know what to look for. My best deal came when
I found an auction in an obsecure category with a title "Apple Disk
Controller Card", starting bid $15. Looking at the description
revealed that the card was for a 3.5" disk drive pulled from a working
Apple IIe. Sounded like a Unidisk 3.5/Liron card which I wasn't too
interested in. By chance I decided to look that the other auctions
this person had, one of which for for an Apple 3.5 drive. The
description for the drive was that it was also pulled from a working
Apple IIe. I put one and one together and figured that his 3.5"
controller card had to be either a UDC card (likely) or a Superdrive
controller (unlikely). So I placed a $15 bid and won the card. Two
weeks later the package arrives and, to my surprise, I found I had
purchsed a Superdrive controller card, a card that normally goes for
$150 plus! This card still sits in my Apple IIe. :)
Sometimes you get lucky.
