You didn't specify 8 or 16 bit software - so, I assume you're thinking
more about GUI and graphics display potential because while an 8 bit
solution isn't impossible, it would be severly constrained. Plus with
the exception of Contiki - you'd have to roll your own since no other
realistic options exist.
I would recommend the effort put in to any II-specific markup language
be based on Spectrum and Spectrum Internet Suite - as it already has
some of that capability built-in and it's still actively supported by
it's developer, Ewen Wannop. Spectrum is extensible, and anyone who's
got a solid background with ProTerm will be right at home as well.
The foundation is already there, no need to reinvent the wheel or use
any more metaphors in this post...
