Until I took a look at my card I had no idea what a Sandwich II was.

Switch 1 = DMA mode (DOWN = default) or pseudo-DMA (UP/OPEN)
Use pseudo-DMA in an Apple II with an accelerator that does not support
DMA (eg Zip Chip in a IIe).

Switches 2-3 = SCSI ID of the host adapter (DOWN DOWN DOWN = default
(7))

Interestingly my Reference manual does not give the order of these
three switches.
UP DOWN DOWN could equal 4 or it could mean 1.

What SCSI ID was the HDD you had attached when the system would not
boot?
