Re: Origin of Apple "Lisa" Computer Name : Apple IIe Software ?

I think LISA is a four-letter acronym, of which the last two stand
for Symbolic Assembler. Not much of a coincidence--just a small
name space.

The Apple penchant for naming systems after girlfriends/daughters
is well known.

Vince ,

  True.
However it is often the case that a coporate " mythology" or lore
often emerges after the fact.
The basic problem is that after a while aka Dilbert the mythology
comes to be believed as fact.
By digging around sometimes you can find the information to dispute
the commonly held mythology which by this time is never questioned.
Still it is an amazing coincidence that the program is called Lisa ,
was for an Apple product predates the Lisa / Mac computer .
If the firm was still in business when the Lisa was released Apple
would have had some difficulty in copywriting the name .

                                                              What do
you think

What is the origin of the Apple " Lisa" - the Apple Computer that
paved the way for the Mac ?
It is popular Apple lore that the "Lisa " was named after an
engineer's daughter.
I came across this link to a manual of a pre Lisa Apple II 3rd
party software called "Lisa ".
Perhaps it is only Apple popular Folklore ?
