Re: 8MHz Zip Chip doesn't work?

Last year I picked up a nice IIc package deal. Included was a 8Mhz zip
chip. At the time the guy ran the diags for me and they checked out
okay. We really didn't run anything to demo the speed so I didn't think
much of it.

I was running Contiki today testing some stuff and at one point both
the IIc and my IIgs (with a stock transwarp-gs) had the screen saver
come on. I immediatly noticed a big difference in that the IIc was a
lot slower.

I search around and found the Zip utilities that came with the system.
The system tests still pass and and software reports that it can turn
the chip on and off. I see no difference at all when it is supposed to
be on or off.

I opened up the IIc and move the chip to another system and I see the
same behaviour. Has any one heard of something like this before? Did I
miss something simple?

I don't mean to be a party-pooper, but does it *look* like a Zip Chip?
