Apple II stinks like...

...exploded capacitors.

Mine did for a long time after the filter caps exploded in the PSU. I'd 
only just bought it too! My first and only Apple II (it's a non-enhanced 
IIe).

It might even still smell too, I haven't checked it in a while. My 
current computer of choice is the Amstrad PCW and I've not got the space 
to have them all set up at once.
