Here are a few ideas for a ][+ front panel:
A smart front panel controller could be interesting. It could scan
switches or take input from/ dump memory to something like an
integrated serial port or CF card. When not in use as a front panel it
could be used as an auxilary CPU and the blinken lights as an
amusement.
Switches and lamps to simplify control of the language card banks and
R/W status.
A ROM emulator for the F8 ROM to facilitate front panel monitor mods.
Shortcut buttons to quickly toggle certain softswitches could be
useful.
A color killer toggle would also be nice.
Make the front panel wireless so that you can bang bits from the
comfort of your own sofa. ;)
