Re: dos master
There are several ways to copy files around from disks or images over to
dos.master partition volumes. I'll try and explain some of the ways I do it.
First thing is you can't access dos.master volumes unless you load
dos.master. I have my CF image setup to load dos.master on boot.
1. Change to the volume # you want to copy files to. Lets use volume 4 for a
test. Just do a catalog of volume 4 "CATALOG,V4". This now puts your
dos.master volume in 4. Next, change over to your disk II disk drive with
FID on the system master. BRUN FID. Select file to copy and just copy it
over. The key is that you first do a catalog of the volume you want to copy
your files into first, then change over to the disk II drive and brun fid.
2. Another way I've copied files over to dos.master volume is with ADT. You
can only do this with images that don't require you to boot into them. With
dos.master loaded, catalog the volume # you want to copy a disk image over
to (CATALOG,V4). With ADT loaded in your disk II drive, BRUN ADT,S6 (if ADT
is in slot 6 on your system). Set ADT to copy to the slot your dos.master is
loaded in. Just copy over the image as if it was copying onto a disk drive.
3. I've also copied files over using the SVD (Semi-Virtual-Disk). If you
don't have one, what are you waiting for? This device acts like a disk drive
and you can load images (1 at a time) into it from your PC through the
serial port and your apple II thinks it is a disk II drive! So, in this
case, I do the same steps as option 1.
The 2 things to remember are: Load dos.master 1st and CATALOG,V# into your
dos.master volume first before copying files over.
Does this answer your question?
